Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest‑growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Use the Bombardier Integrated Quality Management System.
  • Participate in the process of writing and maintaining Technique (method) sheets for the testing of components, and liaise with level 3 Technician.
  • Understand and apply the company and industry statutory operational specifications for the evaluation of landing gear components, flap tracks, and carriages.
  • Test and verify the condition of a diverse range of components passing through the NDT area, and perform these in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
  • Maintain a good level of NDT knowledge, prepare for assessments and examinations as required.
  • Work and contribute to the team within the area, managing their individual certification to keep it current and valid; attend internal and external training courses, as required, to maintain and develop the relevance of their certification.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment in the area as required to operate legally.
  • Complete other duties as directed by the Head of Production or Section Manager.
  • All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with safety and environmental regulations and company procedures.
  • Interface with production departments.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Constantly monitor operating methods to facilitate qualitative improvements in the service provided to customers.
  • Maintain effective liaison with all departments that are affected directly or indirectly by the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Work within established company policies, procedures and agreements.
  • Be aware of the major accident prevention plan (MAPP).
  • Be aware and understand responsibilities outlined in the company’s environmental procedures.
  • Train personnel within a specified area as qualifications and experience allow.

How to thrive in this role?

  • Magnetic Particle Inspection L2 (as required).
  • Ability to travel and support Bombardier internationally.
  • Oversee L1 and other NDT trainees and sign off on hours.
  • Good IT user knowledge (e.g., SAP or similar business software, Microsoft Office Excel).
  • Basic knowledge of EASA/CAA/FAA requirements and other applicable aviation regulations.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety working practice.
  • Fluent English communication (written and verbal).
  • Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with staff on business and other issues that affect the business.
  • Good planning, organization and administration skills, PC literate.
  • Capacity to maintain performance under pressure.
  • Decision‑making ability.
  • Proficient problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Willingness to learn new skills to help the Company achieve its targets.
  • Strong team player willing to improve and learn methods and processes, passing on knowledge and helping improve the working environment within the NDT department.
