An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding individual to join the School’s successful Development Department on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Head of Development, and working as part of the wider Development team, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for all enquiries received by the Development Office, as well as being responsible for supporting the Head of Development in the delivery of the departmental programme of events and activities and undertaking the day-to-day administration of the Development Office.

The successful candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, be IT literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft packages as well as having excellent organisational and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail. They will be diplomatic and discreet, with experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential matters, as well as having the ability to work under their own initiative to plan and organise their workload in order to meet their deadlines. The successful candidate will possess strong skills in communication (both oral and written), numeracy and analysis.

A practical knowledge of databases - preferably relationship databases in a fundraising or alumni relations environment (ideally Raiser’s Edge) - and experience of maintaining the records contained therein is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.

With some 2,500 pupils, Bolton School is a large, thriving, academically selective day school. It is situated a mile or so from the town centre in a stunning 32 acre campus and is within easy reach of some of the nation’s finest cities and countryside. A large Foundation Services Department supports the School operations and within this there is a trading arm, Bolton School Services Limited (BSSL). This includes BSS Weddings and Events, BSS Leisure Services, Kidzone and Patterdale Hall, a superb Outdoor Pursuits Centre situated at the Southern end of Lake Ullswater. Those who work within the organisation are able to combine the experience and pleasure of educating and being around young people with some of the challenges of a business environment.
