The Service Lead will monitor and maintain the professional standards required through leadership and management of Hospice services, creating a supportive and unified team, whose prime purpose is to provide safe, effective care to those who need it, across all Hospice services. The post holder will take a key role in the Clinical Governance processes including the review, development and implementation of policies and evidence-based practice required for the safe efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the Hospice services and will work closely with the Head of Clinical Services and Service Leads across the organisation to ensure multi-professional collaborative working.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with relevant experience working at a senior level within palliative care. The successful candidate will need to be driven by quality improvement and have the qualities of a motivational leader to continuously improve the standard of care and ensure governance structures are embedded throughout whilst working in collaboration with other clinical managers, senior management team and colleagues to develop services and to facilitate and lead change across the service to meet the needs of the local population.

Person Specification:

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) KLOEs for hospices
  • Lead in challenging situations, both clinically and managerially
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Time management and workload prioritisation
  • Ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent record keeping with data analysis, report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop policies to enhance patient care
  • Experience of establishment and budget management
  • A working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act in practice, including DoLs and the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS)
