We are looking for a Retail Area Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the retail department by providing direct line management to retail / online shop managers, driving sales and profitability whilst minimising costs.

The Role: We are seeking an experienced Retail Area Manager to drive sales, profitability and operational excellence across a portfolio of charity shops and online sales. Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, you will provide strong, hands-on leadership to Shop Managers and the Online Sales Manager, ensuring high standards of customer service, visual merchandising, stock management and compliance. You will support day-to-day operations across the retail estate, including providing practical cover where required, monitoring performance against KPIs, maximising gift-aid income, minimising costs and contributing to the strategic development of the retail operation in line with Bolton Hospice values.

What you need: The ideal candidate will have proven line management experience within a retail environment, a strong track record of achieving financial targets and the ability to motivate and influence teams across multiple locations. You will bring excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills, sound knowledge of retail legislation and health and safety, and confidence working with data, systems and reports. Experience in the charity sector, volunteer management and gift-aid is desirable. You will be resilient, self-motivated, flexible and collaborative, with a full driving licence, a willingness to travel and a strong commitment to the vision and values of Bolton Hospice.
