Overview

Teaching Assistant L2 + SEN (31.25 hours per week, Term Time Only) Yr 5. Grade D / SCP 6-11 + SEN Allowance PRO-RATA (FTE £25,989 – £28,142 to be Pro-Rata). Actual salary: £18,353 to £19,874 + Pro-rata SEN allowance. Fixed Term contract to 31st August 2026. Start Date ASAP.

Eagley Junior School is a happy and welcoming two-form entry Junior School in Bromley Cross, Bolton. We have an opportunity for a caring and supportive individual to join our team of Teaching Assistants as a SEN Teaching Assistant. You will work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing specialist support to the teacher in an aspect of the curriculum or age range, for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a love of learning in their pupils, demonstrating creativity and enthusiasm in their approach. We are looking for someone who:

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning, including provision of specialist SEN support as directed by the teacher.
  • Devise and implement structured learning activities, under the direction of the teacher, and evaluate their effectiveness and measure pupils’ progress, providing feedback as required.
  • Work with pupils with SEN to develop and progress their learning in line with school strategies and SEN requirements.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour and learning, and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate clearly with pupils, families and colleagues; build respectful working relationships.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge and procedures for supporting and leading learning activities in SEN.
  • Successful relevant experience of working with children.
  • Ability to devise and implement structured learning activities and to evaluate progress with feedback.
  • Enthusiastic, professional, friendly and with a good sense of humour; ability to communicate clearly.
  • High expectations of children’s learning and behaviour; self-motivated with good time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to form and maintain mutually respectful working relationships; willingness to reflect and respond to feedback.
