Teaching Assistant Level 2 + SEN – The Gates Primary

Contract: fixed term until 31/08/2026

Hours: 15 hours

Grade: Grade D, SCP 6 to SCP 11 £25,989 to £28,142

Do you have the drive, inspiration and vision to support our learners and teachers in raising standards even further? If so, The Gates Primary School is the place for you. The Governors, staff and children of The Gates Primary School wish to appoint an outstanding Assistant Teacher to join our highly motivated and dedicated school team who can share and utilise their expertise. The post is fixed term until the end of Summer term and is to start as soon as possible. This role will support children in EYFS and is 15 hours per week, mornings only 8.30-11.30am.

We are very proud of our school and so are the pupils. Ofsted visited The Gates in September 2023 and judged the school to be Good where: “Everyone at The Gates Primary School is proud to belong to this caring community. Pupils enjoy coming to school. They build positive and trusting relationships with staff. This helps them to feel happy and safe. Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), rise to the high expectations that the school sets for their academic achievement and behaviour. They work hard and achieve well”.

Responsibilities

  • Has experience of working within the multi-agency arena
  • Has a good understanding of education and is able to extend young children’s learning, committed to promoting high standards of attainment
  • Has very high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour for learning
  • Loves teaching with an absolute commitment and willingness to continue to learn, reflect and improve
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills and experience to work with children with specific SEN needs and support other pupils
  • Has experience of working with children with SEMH and behavioural issues
  • Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
  • Is proactive and can work with individual children and small groups, both within and outside the classroom
  • Has excellent English and Maths skills and an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification

Essential Qualifications

  • Holder of an NVQ Level 2, BTEC Level 2 or equivalent in Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
