Due to the promotion of our present post-holder to the central team of a Catholic Academy Trust, the Governing Board of Sacred Heart RC Primary School are seeking to appoint a Senior Pastoral Lead to join the senior leadership team of our two-form entry primary school.
Main Duties include:
- To act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the school;
- To attend and contribute towards safeguarding related conferences/meetings, including Child Protection, CLA/LAC and PEP reviews;
- To be the first port of call for families and carers of those children in need of additional support;
- To take responsibility for attendance across the school, particularly for those pupils identified as being most vulnerable;
- To facilitate the sharing of relevant information between school and external agencies, being a point of contact for any multi-agency work;
- To develop, implement, maintain and monitor student records, including behaviour and safeguarding, through CPOMS;
- To be responsible for the prevention and management of challenging behaviour, developing effective strategies to promote positive behaviour;
- To lead staff professional development; sourcing, adapting and delivering relevant safeguarding training for all staff;
- To provide relevant, detailed reports to Governors and external agencies;
- To take a lead role in the schools Universal, Preventative and Early Help offers;
- To provide support and leadership for lunchtime supervisors, ensuring safe and effective lunchtimes.
Skills required:
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures linked to the role (statutory guidance, thresholds and reporting of concerns etc);
- Excellent interpersonal skills, being approachable and non-judgemental;
- Strong professional boundaries and confidentiality awareness;
- Ability to identify emotional, behavioural and mental health needs early and knowledge of where to signpost;
- Ability to deal and respond in a calm and prompt manner, to any safeguarding concerns;
- Well organised and able to work on own initiative, managing own workload, whilst operating within a busy team;
