The Role

The council’s Strategy, Policy, and Area Working Team is on a mission to shape the future of Bolton and its communities. We’re driven by ambitious goals and a fresh approach to corporate strategy and policy. Now, we’re looking for a dedicated Principal Policy Officer to join us.
As a Principal Policy Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our work to support key strategy and plans to help the council, partners and residents influence the future of our town. This could involve supporting the council’s performance management framework, helping to plan and co-ordinate the council’s work with Bolton’s voluntary and community sector, or working with our partners through Bolton Vision Partnership.
About You
Successful candidates should have a strong understanding of local and national policies, and excellent all-round communication skills. You should possess an ability to think strategically, analyse complex issues and develop effective solutions, as well as strong project management skills and the ability to lead delivery of complex corporate projects. You should also have experience of business planning and performance management and an understanding of our statutory commitments under the Equalities Act 2010. Candidates must also possess a relevant degree level qualification.
