Role specifics: Master’s level qualification in a relevant subject and at least two years’ experience of working within or with academic or research institutions.
The Role: Are you passionate about research and the significant role this plays in Local Government settings? We are looking for a Local Authority Research Practitioner to further the organisational agenda in Bolton Council, developing new systems and delivering bespoke training to foster a research and evidence informed culture. The successful candidate will have a proven ability of conducting advanced research, carrying out evaluative techniques and academic writing. As Local Authority Research Practitioner you will work across the organisation to build on current research capabilities ensuring evidence informed decision making and evaluations in line with the broader council approach. One of the key principles in the plan is to empower residents, working alongside communities. The Local Authority Research Practitioner will support this by increasing public involvement in research, built on trust and community strengths as well as needs.
About You: We need someone who is experienced in setting up research systems and delivering training in a public service environment being highly skilled at building strategic and collaborative working relationships at all levels. You will need to be highly experienced in advanced research methods with excellent verbal and written skills including scientific writing. You should be self-disciplined, able to work proactively, independently and motivated to make a positive difference for the people of Bolton. You will need to be adaptable and resilient with the relevant knowledge and skills to be ready to work at pace on this innovative and exciting research agenda. The successful candidate will bring a strong academic mindset with a solution focused approach. You will need to have influential engagement skills supported by a strong knowledge of research methodologies and training experience.
