Learning Mentor Required A.S.A.P Salary grade E £28,142 - £31,022 FTE per annum 35 hours per week, term time plus 1 week. Previous applicants need not apply.
The Governors are seeking to appoint a Learning Mentor. The post holder will be required to work across the school (KS1 - KS2). The Children, Staff and Governors would welcome applications from candidates who have:
- Experience and or qualifications within the area of SEND/SEMH
- Confidence in implementing strategies to support a child’s learning and development
- Help to keep children safe, including maintaining a safe environment, dealing with accidents, supporting safeguarding.
- Develop and promote positive relationships with children, adults, parents and other practitioners/agencies
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Be hard working and able to use your own initiative
- Use information and communication technology to support pupils’ learning and facilitate meetings
- The ability to enable all children, as individuals, to thrive in your care
- Able to set clear boundaries and have experience of a range of behaviour management strategies to promote positive attitudes to learning
- Facilitate children and young people’s learning and development through mentoring
- To develop a 1:1 mentoring relationship with children requiring support to achieve goals defined in the action plan and to take a lead in drawing up an action plan for each child who needs particular support.
- To have strategies and approaches in working with children who can portray dysregulated and challenging behaviours
- To work closely with the SENCO and the class teacher to ensure to meet the needs of the children
- To have knowledge and appreciation of the range of activities, courses, opportunities, organisations and individuals that could be drawn upon to provide extra support for the children.
- To facilitate the sharing of relevant information between local agencies and school and be a point of contact for accessing a range of community and specialist support services for example, Social Services, EWO service.
- Knowledge of the early help system, PEPs and TAFs
