Job Overview: Bolton College is looking to appoint experienced and dedicated Additional Learning Support Assistants to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Support students’ needs to ensure equitable access to all College programmes while maintaining high expectations.
  • Guide students through instructions and meaning of activities, ensuring they understand tasks.
  • Promote confidence, motivation and provide guidance and encouragement in all activities.
  • Encourage students to integrate into the learning group.
  • Ensure students are up to date with their work and liaise with tutors to identify gaps and help meet targets.
  • Collaborate with internal professionals to contribute to smooth progressions and transitions.
  • Promote preparation for life.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths qualifications or equivalent.
  • Evidence of job‑related training.
  • Experience supporting learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well‑being issues with their further education studies.
  • Understanding of the needs of learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well‑being issues, and strategies for differentiating support.
  • Knowledge of IT and office suites (e.g., Word).

Additional Information

We currently offer a permanent contract of up to 25 hours per week working on a term‑time only basis, but you will probably have the opportunity to extend these hours on a casual basis so flexibility is important. As an individual, you will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and will therefore be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
