Class 1 Drawbar Hook Loader Driver (Experience Required) | £17.00 per Hour | No Nights Out | Home Every Evening

Location: Great Blakenham, Suffolk

Pay Rate: £16.18 / £21.30 per hour during probation/training; £17.00 / £22.50 per hour for experienced drivers or following successful completion of probation

Hours: 47.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Typical working hours: 06:30 – 16:30

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable and professional Class 1 Driver to operate a Hook Loader drawbar vehicle delivering and exchanging Roll-On Roll-Off containers throughout Suffolk and the surrounding areas. This is a full-time, permanent position offering local work, regular hours and the opportunity to join a stable business with a strong reputation and long-serving workforce.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Operating a Class 1 Hook Loader drawbar vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Exchanging and transporting RoRo containers.
  • Delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Completing vehicle safety checks and defect reporting.
  • Maintaining compliance with Drivers' Hours regulations and company procedures.
  • Ensuring loads and waste materials are transported safely and legally.
  • Working closely with our Transport Team to provide an excellent service to customers.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience operating Class 1 drawbar vehicles.
  • Previous hook loader experience.
  • Good understanding of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Suffolk and surrounding areas.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using mobile technology, including tablets, Microsoft Teams and digital fleet management systems.
  • Ability to complete electronic vehicle inspections, defect reporting, operational communications and job-related documentation using company-issued tablets.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach.
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous Hook Loader experience.
  • Waste and recycling industry experience.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Suffolk and surrounding areas.

Training can be provided for the right candidate with the correct attitude and experience.
