Portfolio Steering Lead – Global Insurance & Reinsurance Group

Shape the Future of a Global (Re)Insurer (general insurance)

Opportunity

A leading international underwriter of insurance and reinsurance, with offices across major global markets, is seeking a Portfolio Steering Lead to help build and elevate its portfolio steering capabilities. Backed by strong financial strength ratings and a diversified global footprint, the organization blends deep risk expertise with a growing network of strategic partnerships.

As Portfolio Steering Lead, you will work closely with the Chief Pricing Actuary and CUO office to design, deliver, and embed a systematic approach to portfolio steering. This is a greenfield role suited to someone who can translate strategy into action—and thrives in a hands‑on, high‑impact environment.

What You’ll Lead

  • Build and manage the Pricing Review Group framework to evaluate portfolio performance using consistent metrics.
  • Lead the quarterly portfolio steering process and deliver high‑quality analysis with actionable insights.
  • Work with pricing teams to cascade strategic actions down to individual accounts.
  • Integrate pricing perspectives into quarterly business reviews and performance discussions.
  • Build a structured program for line‑of‑business deep dives.
  • Support planning cycles across the global business, including delegated business.
  • Partner with data and analytics teams to develop tools and capabilities that enhance portfolio steering.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging topics such as cycle management.
  • Prepare performance insights, exhibits, and commentary for senior leadership and board‑level reporting.
  • (Optional) Support pricing work during peak renewal periods.

What You Bring

  • Strong knowledge of global corporate and specialty (re)insurance.
  • Experience in portfolio steering, performance management, FP&A, actuarial pricing, or insurance consulting.
  • Ability to turn qualitative and quantitative data—sometimes imperfect—into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience working closely with pricing and underwriting teams.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel; exposure to tools like PowerBI advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts simply.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and comfort operating in an international environment.

Why Join This Organization?

  • Competitive and above‑market compensation.
  • Freedom to influence, build, and drive meaningful change.
  • A workplace committed to diversity, inclusion, and allyship.
