We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Manager to oversee the maintenance, compliance, and development of our Yorkshire estate property portfolio. Reporting to the Estate Director and the Estate Escapes (Hotels) Managing Director, you will play a key role in ensuring our diverse range of historic and modern buildings are maintained to the highest standards while meeting regulatory, financial, and sustainability requirements.

Who are we? The Bolton Abbey Estate is the Yorkshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, spanning 26,500 acres of breathtaking countryside within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our estate includes let farms, moorland, woodland, historic buildings, residential and commercial properties, and the iconic 12th-century Bolton Priory ruins. Alongside the let estate, we operate a diverse portfolio of businesses including tourism, retail, food and drink, hotels, and holiday cottages. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage reactive and planned maintenance, refurbishments, compliance works, and capital projects across the estate.
  • Oversee building works for residential, commercial, and agricultural properties - both modern and historic.
  • Champion sustainable building practices where possible.
  • Ensure all building work meets company, legal, regulatory, and health & safety standards.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and tender documents.
  • Budget management.
  • Lead and support the team with a focus on performance and wellbeing.
