About the Opportunity:
Bolt Technical are recruiting for a Cable Design Engineer to join our client's technical team. Our client is a well-established manufacturer of high-performance cable solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in cable design to play a key role in developing innovative products from concept through to production. Working closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers, you'll be responsible for delivering technically compliant and commercially viable cable solutions while supporting continuous improvement and product lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer requirements and provide timely technical responses to enquiries
- Design and develop high-performance cable products in line with customer specifications and regulatory standards
- Take ownership of product Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production capability
- Develop product quality and control plans, including defining testing requirements
- Support material selection, validation, and testing activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation and product support materials
- Ensure products remain compliant with international standards and legislation
- Liaise with suppliers regarding materials and technical specifications
- Provide technical support to sales and customer support teams
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
What They're Looking For:
- Proven experience in cable design engineering
- Strong knowledge of polymer materials and material selection
- Experience with materials testing and product validation
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Monitor experience would be advantageous)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Strong problem-solving and project management ability
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or within a team
- Proven ability to manage projects through to completion
