About The Role: We are building an AI‑powered platform that will transform how Bolt Insight delivers consumer intelligence to clients. As Engineering Manager, AI & Data (Hands‑on), you will lead the development of our core AI systems while actively contributing code, especially in the early stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Building the AI & Data function from the ground up, designing the technical foundation, delivering production‑ready AI capabilities, and gradually forming and leading a small, high‑impact team.
  • Work closely with the CTO and have direct impact on product and business outcomes by building & leading a Snowflake‑based AI platform using Cortex AI for LLM inference, embeddings, and vector search.
  • Develop Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems surfacing insights from over 10 years of proprietary research.
  • Build client‑specific AI agents that understand business context, research history, and preferences.
  • Produce APIs serving intelligent responses to internal tools and client‑facing applications.
  • Fine‑tune pipelines for custom models aligned with Bolt Insight’s research methodology.
  • Create evaluation frameworks and feedback loops for continuous model improvement.

Leadership & Ownership:

  • Act as a hands‑on technical leader, writing production code and shaping core architecture in the early phase.
  • Build and lead the AI & Data team, including AI Engineers and Data Scientists.
  • Own delivery, technical standards, and engineering best practices for AI systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Requirements:

  • Must have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years focused on ML/AI systems.
  • Strong Python skills with production experience and hands‑on experience building LLM‑powered applications (RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data infrastructure, with proven track record of shipping ML systems to production.
  • Strong communication skills—ability to work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with model fine‑tuning and customization.
  • Background in market research, consumer insights, or B2B SaaS.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
  • Familiarity with ML evaluation frameworks and monitoring.
