The Apprenticeship

The Solicitor Apprenticeship is a Level 7 programme suitable for applicants who have already completed 3 A-Levels, or equivalent studies, and 5 GCSEs (including English and Mathematics). This pathway is not suitable for those who have already started studying towards, or completed, their degree. The successful candidate will complete a 5.5 year apprenticeship programme through our training provider, The University of Law. They’ll provide all your academic training throughout the apprenticeship (alongside this, you will simultaneously gain your Qualifying Work Experience).

The academic training includes:

  • undertaking legal studies to gain an LLB in Legal Practice and Skills
  • studying towards the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations, Parts 1 & 2

For four days each week, you will be working with different teams gaining hands‑on legal experience in different areas of clinical negligence and personal injury law. One day a week will be allocated towards studying. Upon successfully completing the programme, subject to meeting the requirements of the SRA Character & Suitability test, you will be registered with the SRA as a fully qualified solicitor. We will pay for your tuition fees, and you will be paid a salary whilst training and gaining your degree and qualifications. You will also have the opportunity to attend all other relevant training programmes offered internally by the firm to further your legal knowledge and skills. As part of our induction, we will help you become familiar with our systems and internal procedures.

Salary: £25,000 per annum

You will assist with:

  • a caseload of complex and challenging multi‑track clinical negligence and personal injury claims under close supervision from fee‑earners
  • undertaking legal research and marketing campaigns
  • document management and general legal administration duties such as file opening and closure on the case management system, preparing bundles and assisting with court clerking tasks
  • client care and communication, attending client meetings and creating attendance notes
  • maintaining confidentiality of all firm and client documentation, data and information and carrying out all duties in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • any other reasonable tasks

You will…

  • have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in law
  • be empathetic and have a passion for supporting people who have experienced life‑changing injuries
  • have 3 A‑Levels, or equivalent studies, at grade A‑C or higher (excluding General Studies) and 5 GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 (including English & Mathematics)
  • have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • be able to follow instructions, undertake research and have a good eye for detail
  • be hard working, energetic and sociable
