We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mobile Service Van Mechanic to join our team at Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services. In this role, you will operate from a fully equipped service van and respond to roadside repairs, perform on-site servicing, and manage on-site clinics for HGVs and other large commercial vehicles. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires excellent technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to maintaining the reliability and safety of our clients’ fleets.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to roadside repair callouts for HGVs, diagnosing and fixing issues to minimise downtime.
- Perform scheduled on-site servicing for HGVs at client locations.
- Manage on-site clinics, providing diagnostics, routine maintenance, and minor repairs for commercial fleets.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Complete repairs, including brakes, suspension, exhausts, and other HGV components.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, including parts used and recommendations for additional maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of your service van and tools.
About You
- Proven experience as an HGV mechanic with a focus on roadside repairs and on-site servicing.
- Strong technical knowledge of HGV mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively to identify and resolve faults.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- A valid UK driving licence (HGV licence is advantageous but not essential).
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- A strong commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.
- Experience in managing on-site fleet clinics is advantageous.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus.
