About The Role
The purpose of the IP Network Architect is to design and implement Boldyn's IP network infrastructure and services as a core pillar of our customer led strategy. Working in partnership with vendors and outsourcing partners, this role will provide high performing and reliable solutions to meet our business needs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as technical authority for the design and delivery of Boldyn’s IP network & Wi-Fi deployments ensuring they meet customer requirements, adhere to network design & security guidelines and transition into service operations.
- Define and manage processes to ensure quality of low-level design documentation, network configurations, IP address space throughout the life cycle of the network.
- Work with Group Cyber security colleagues to define security best practice principles ensuring these are implemented throughout the design, and operation of the networks.
- Manage the production SD-WAN & ZTNA infrastructure ensuring that it can appropriately scale to serve additional remote sites that need to connect to the core OSS/BSS infrastructure in a resilient and secure manner.
- Engage with industry forums to raise the profile of Boldyn and lead the technical thinking of the industry.
- Identify and develop partnerships with vendors to deliver best in class solutions.
- Identify and understand key requirements of Radio & Optical network products to ensure vertical integration of solutions with the IP architecture.
- Act as people manager and mentor to more junior members of the team performing periodic performance reviews, developing goals and career progression plans.
- Input and review pre-sales proposals providing technical expertise and costing inputs as necessary.
- Manage Boldyn’s IP address space, leading engagement with RIPE, and other external organisations.
- Lead and act as point of contact for Boldyn’s involvement in network peering communities, ensuring robust management of BGP routing tables is put in place.
- Investigate and optimise the operation for future deployments, troubleshooting when required and recommending pragmatic solutions to address issues as they arise.
- Maintain a knowledge of current industry standard network components both hardware and software based and maintain required credentials in industry tools and systems.
- Work with vendors and supply chain to manage RFP’s in accordance with our supply chain principles.
- Develop and implement a virtual infrastructure strategy leveraging current industry technologies.
- Support the installation, configuration and optimization of Boldyn Network’s core network elements.
- Work with the Delivery and Service & Operations teams in the operationalisation of the existing deployments.
- Advise and recommend tooling and software that aid in the design process.
What You’ll Bring
- IP network and Wi-Fi experience and certification across multiple vendors including Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus & HPE.
- Experience of security principles, SD-WAN, ZTNA.
- Confidence to manage conflicting priorities and work at pace.
- Strong conceptual as well as technical experience and the natural ability to solve complex problems as they arise to meet the needs of the customer.
- Ability to advise key stakeholders on the different network components, services and options available to operate consistently to meet SLA’s.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Relevant Network Architecture experience gained in telecommunications/ISP.
- An understanding of technologies above and below in the stack; e.g. facilities (e.g. power), fibre, optical networks, applications, systems gained through a proven track record in network architecture.
- An understanding of the wider management of networks in the 21st century: network management, automation, reporting tools.
- Proven consulting skills and experience of working in large complex environments delivering Infrastructure Transformation/Network programmes.
