Bola 8 is a vibrant Latin nightclub, cocktail bar, and American pool lounge in the heart of Elephant & Castle, South London. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant General Manager to support the leadership, performance, and day-to-day operation of our fast-paced late-night venue.

This is a leadership role for someone with strong operational management experience in hospitality, ideally within bars, nightclubs, restaurants, live events, entertainment venues, or other high-pressure customer-facing environments. You will work closely with the General Manager and play a key role in driving standards across operations, customer experience, team performance, sales, events, and overall business growth.

The successful candidate must be confident managing busy shifts, leading teams, handling operational challenges, and maintaining high standards during late-night trading.

The Role

  • Managing shifts as Duty Manager and overseeing venue operations
  • Leading, motivating, and managing teams during high-pressure service periods
  • Supporting bar, nightclub, pool lounge, and event operations
  • Delivering excellent customer experience and handling complaints professionally
  • Working closely with security teams to maintain safe and effective late-night operations
  • Supporting recruitment, staff training, coaching, and performance management
  • Managing stock control, cash handling, waste procedures, and operational controls
  • Driving sales performance, upselling, and supporting business growth initiatives
  • Supporting events, DJs, promoters, and entertainment operations
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, health & safety, and company procedures
  • Monitoring operational standards and implementing improvements where needed
  • Preparing reports and supporting the General Manager with business performance and decision-making

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Minimum 2 years management experience within hospitality or late-night venues
  • Proven experience in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, entertainment venues, or high-volume hospitality operations
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams under pressure
  • Confidence dealing with customers, staff issues, and operational challenges
  • Experience with stock control, cash handling, rota management, and daily operations
  • Good understanding of licensing laws, health & safety, and venue compliance
  • Strong customer service standards and commercial awareness
  • Ability to improve team performance, customer experience, and operational standards
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and late nights
  • Full right to work in the UK

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience within Latin nightlife or entertainment venues
  • Experience supporting events, promoters, or live entertainment operations
