The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of electrical installations across our projects, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, client specifications, company procedures and industry best practice. The role will involve regular site inspections, quality audits, documentation reviews, testing oversight and supporting project teams in delivering right-first-time installations. This is a key role within the business and will suit someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and a passion for high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular quality inspections across live projects.
  • Monitor electrical installations for compliance with:
    • BS 7671
    • Building Regulations
    • Client specifications
    • Company QA procedures
    • Health & Safety requirements
  • Review installation standards and workmanship on site.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of company QA systems and procedures.
  • Support project teams with inspection and testing compliance.
  • Review electrical certification and commissioning documentation.
  • Identify defects, non-conformances and areas requiring improvement.
  • Produce quality reports and corrective action notices where required.
  • Work alongside Contracts Managers, Site Managers and Engineers to resolve technical and quality issues.
  • Support pre-start meetings and quality briefings.
  • Assist with maintaining document control and O&M quality standards.
  • Carry out toolbox talks and quality awareness sessions where required.
  • Monitor subcontractor quality and compliance.
  • Support client inspections and handover processes.
  • Promote a strong “right first time” culture throughout the business.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within a similar supervisory, quality assurance or electrical management role within the electrical contracting industry.
  • Strong understanding of BS 7671 and electrical installation practices.
  • Previous experience in inspection, testing, supervision or quality assurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Good communication/organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • IT competent including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working on University of Oxford projects or within similar complex educational, laboratory or live operational environments would be highly advantageous as would experience within live or sensitive environments such as schools, laboratories or healthcare facilities.
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent or higher.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Experience working in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Experience with QA systems and documentation.
  • Knowledge of fire stopping emergency lighting and life safety systems.
