Position: Plywood Production Operator Trainee
Location: Boise Cascade in Chester, a non-climate-controlled mill, where temperatures can be very high in summer and cold in winter. Trainees are utilized in a general laborer capacity with opportunities for advancement.
Shifts Available:
- Two days on, Two days off, Three days on, Two days off rotation — 7:00pm – 7:30am — every other weekend off (48 hours one week, 36 hours the next)
- Monday – Friday 11:00pm – 7:30am (40-48 hours/week), with weekend availability as required
Job Responsibilities:
- Support machine operators and learn to run the green end, dryer, layup, and saw lines
- Support cleaning activities using blowers, shovels, and pitch forks to ensure safety
- Act as relief operator to cover breaks and vacations
- Follow all safety and environmental guidelines, proactively identify hazards
- Assist team members during plywood and veneer production
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience or a verifiable high school diploma/GED
- Six months’ experience in farming, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical work, construction, warehouse, military, production, or manufacturing; or mechanical technical schooling
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely
- Flexible to work any shift, including holidays, weekends, and overtime
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments
- Adherence to safety rules and PPE requirements
- Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hours
