Basic Qualifications: A minimum of five (5) years verifiable diesel mechanic experience OR a degree in Diesel Power Technology is required for this position. Applicants must be able to work all shifts and pass a pre-employment criminal background check, drug test and physical assessment. Applicants must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, twist and work in other awkward positions. Proficiency in written communication is important as the mechanic must be able to comprehend written instructions and follow directions from shop manuals. Applicants must have hands on experience with:
- Engine troubleshooting (diesel, gas and LPG)
- Welding and fabricating.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic pumps and components.
- Automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Automatic transmissions.
- Parts ordering and parts inventory.
- Maintaining and servicing plant rolling stock (i.e. forklifts, Bob Cats, Genie Boom lifts, scissor lifts, diesel fire pumps, pickups and small gas engine equipment, excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, etc.).
- Reading and understanding service manuals.
Responsibilities:
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on a variety of rolling stock (i.e. lift trucks, Bob Cats, Genie Boom lifts, scissor lifts, diesel fire pumps, pickups and small gas engine equipment,excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, etc.).
- Utilize a work order system to track maintenance and schedule preventative maintenance. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Work in a safe manner by complying with all company safety policies to include the utilization of required PPE.
- Maintain a high degree of quality in performance and methods with regards to efficiency and safety.
