Due to continued success and growth, we are looking for a Commercial/Domestic Gas Service Engineer to join our amazing team. Engineers with commercial or domestic gas experience and qualifications are welcomed, this role suits those who want to gain experience in industrial settings as well as getting involved in mechanical and electrical works. Boiler and Valve Engineering Ltd are specialists in industrial steam and hot water boilers and associated systems. From our Highland workshop we offer our customers a range of services including: combustion and control system maintenance, preparation of boilers for annual inspections and NDT, complete overhaul, servicing and calibration of system valves, steam and condensate system maintenance, design and survey and supply of spares for all manufacturers of steam and condensate equipment.

No day is the same - your role will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of gas and combustion equipment on customer sites
  • Responding to customer callouts including participation in out of hours rota system – after relevant training
  • Evaluating and resolving technical problems on-site and remotely alongside Boiler and Valve colleagues and/or site contacts
  • Fault finding, diagnosis and repair
  • Installing, commissioning, and servicing of combustion and gas equipment
  • Testing and monitoring the performance of equipment and plant
  • Mechanical and electrical maintenance work on industrial steam plant when required
  • Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including completion of relevant paperwork
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers
  • After sales activities; providing customers with upgrade and energy saving options
  • Participate in training and development as part of continuous personal development

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent (HNC or above)
  • Current ACS commercial and/or domestic gas qualifications
  • Strong, proven background in an engineering environment
  • Field based engineering experience, ideally in a customer facing role
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with dedication to achieving maximum performance and efficiency
  • Ability to make decisions, use initiative and work unsupervised
  • Capable of working accurately at speed, under pressure and with a wide-ranging remit
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and produce high quality reports
  • A full and valid UK driving licence
