UX-Focused Frontend Developer in Bristol (Hybrid – 3 days per week) with a salary of up to £50,000 (DOE). Want to design user experiences that genuinely help fight climate change? At Bohr, your work won’t just look good; it will help reduce methane emissions, improve safety across Europe’s gas networks, and support the transition to a zero-carbon future.
This is a role for someone who enjoys shaping how users experience complex products, not just building interfaces pixel-by-pixel.
About Bohr: We’re on a mission to decarbonise energy through innovation. Through our methane emissions management division, Tectrac, we combine advanced mobile leak detection technology with powerful analytics and GIS-led insights to help utilities find and fix methane leaks faster and more efficiently. Your work will directly support efforts to modernise ageing gas infrastructure and reduce one of the most harmful greenhouse gases affecting the planet today.
The Role: We’re looking for a UX-Focused Frontend Developer to help design and build intuitive, high-quality web interfaces across Bohr’s digital platforms. This role sits at the intersection of UX design and frontend engineering. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand user needs, create wireframes and UI concepts, and then bring those designs to life using React, TypeScript, and modern UI frameworks. You’ll work on products ranging from methane analytics dashboards to real-time operational tools used by major utilities across the UK and Europe. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll own the journey from idea → design → implementation.
What Success Looks Like: Success means building interfaces that feel clear, intuitive, and easy to use, even when working with complex, data-rich products. UX decisions are grounded in real user needs, designs translate smoothly into production-ready UIs, and performance and accessibility are consistently high. Over time, you’ll help establish UX-led frontend development as a core strength within Bohr.
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential:
- Demonstrable experience designing user-centred web interfaces
- Experience using Figma or similar wireframing/prototyping tools
- Strong experience converting designs into React + TypeScript applications
- Proficiency with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first frameworks
- A performance-minded approach to frontend development
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders
- Right to work in the UK and ability to be in Bristol 3 days per week
- Experience working with geospatial data or mapping libraries (e.g. Maplibre, Leaflet)
- Passion for clean, maintainable, and accessible UI development
- Experience working on analytics or data-heavy products
- A lean, product-focused mindset
Why Join Bohr? At Bohr, your work genuinely matters. You’ll help design interfaces that make it easier for utilities to prioritise repairs, understand complex data, and reduce methane emissions at scale. You’ll join a fast-growing, purpose-driven company where UX thinking is valued and where you’ll have real ownership over how products evolve.
You’ll also enjoy:
- Hybrid working with flexibility, based in our Bristol office
- Salary up to £50,000 (DOE)
- Pension contribution scheme
- 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
- EMI share scheme - share in the company’s success
If you’re a frontend developer with a strong UX mindset who wants to combine creative problem-solving with meaningful environmental impact, this is a chance to design products that help protect the planet and reshape the future of energy.
