Job Purpose
Burberry is seeking an established Product Developer, specialising in Jersey, to join our Product Development team in London.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a close partnership with Design and Graphics teams, acting as their technical partner to translate design vision into product.
- Attend fittings, provide feedback on technical feasibility, and propose solutions to achieve creative intent.
- Develop strong working relationships with vendors, understanding their capabilities to meet demands, and negotiate costs while preserving design vision.
- Manage the critical path from concept to pre-production, ensuring deadlines are met and proactively mitigating risks at all stages.
- Deliver prototypes and samples on time, to quality standards, and within cost price range to achieve target margins.
- Ensure products are fit for purpose through ongoing risk assessments, consistency checks, and functionality reviews.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering to align on testing standards and negotiate aesthetic changes to protect design intent.
- Coach and support PD Assistants, while ensuring PLM data is kept accurate and up to date at all times.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Partner with Senior Designers, interpreting their creative vision and translating it to teams and vendors.
- Strong technical capability in garment and fabric construction, jersey fabrics, printing, embroidery, washes, and garment dye techniques.
- Proven experience managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs, and leveraging these partnerships to meet demands.
- Skilled in critical path management to deliver collections on time, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance creativity and cost, managing budgets effectively throughout product development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with strong PLM, Excel, and InDesign proficiency.
