An exciting opportunity has come up to join the BDUK Rotary Wing Enterprise (RWE) Supply Chain team to deliver supply chain sustainment capability to the UK Chinook and Apache aircraft platforms.
The Procurement Specialist role will require an individual who has a detailed understanding of the complex aerospace and defence procurement lifecycle, who can coordinate supply chain activity to successfully support programme material demands. The role focuses on the seamless procurement of goods and services whilst continually monitoring supplier performance against baseline requirements. The individual will join a fast-paced and challenging environment where an acute understanding of commercial documentation requirements and supplier statements of work are required.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Hold Delegation of Authority to commit and execute commercial agreements with Suppliers whilst ensuring compliance and minimizing risk to Boeing.
- Lead the creation and development of the Supply Chain Architecture (SCA) development with input from multi-faceted functions (e.g. Engineering, Programme Management, Safety & Quality).
- Work closely with Price and Estimating to develop material basis of estimate (Priced Bill of Materials), ensuring sourcing strategies are in place to support the Aircraft BOM.
- Develop negotiation strategies to enable best value from Suppliers to Boeing & subsequently placing contracts for the purchase of goods and services.
- Lead development of the sourcing strategy for campaign including industry capability assessment.
- Manage technical, business, product delivery, quality, RIO, MDAL and in-service aspects of key supplier/subcontractor relationships and performance of the supplier relationship.
- Support creation of bid packages including supplier source selection and proposal evaluation (in compliance with the Boeing Integrated Business Acquisition Process (IBAP)).
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships and partnerships with senior stakeholders, peers and relevant functional areas.
- Prepare, negotiate and execute all forms of contractual documentation including Proprietary Information Agreements and Terms and Conditions.
- Represent Supply Chain Management at Programme meetings & lead Key Supplier Meetings.
- Monitor Supply Chain performance relating to the delivery of campaign deliverables and the labour resource being expended to complete such deliverables.
- Identify, monitor, track & mitigate risks, issues and opportunities as they arise in accordance with best practice, ensuring timely communication of such risks to both the programme team and the Supply Chain management team.
- Foster positive and collaborative working relationships with the RWE programme team.
Required Basic Qualifications
- Experience in a procurement, commercial, or supply chain support role in an Aerospace/Defence industry position.
- Experience in SAP/Ariba.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contractual documentation.
- Minimum of 3-5 years Supply Chain or Commercial experience.
- Demonstrated experience working within dynamic global supply chains.
- Experience in executing acquisition or sustainment projects within MRO industry.
- Experience in managing major subcontracts with large organizations.
- Dynamic, innovative and like to think outside the box.
- Able to communicate, influence and engage a diverse group of engineering and programme management professionals.
- An excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
- Outcome focused and demonstrates strong values-based leadership.
- Active UK security clearance or ability to acquire UK SC security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Aerospace & Defence Industry.
- 3-5 years of experience in the related field.
- CIPS – Level 4 or working towards.
