Overview

Boeing Defence United Kingdom is seeking a highly capable and motivated Supplier Quality Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, UK. The role involves working with a wider Boeing UK team managing the quality aspects of the supply base for all military products in the UK. Travel to other Boeing suppliers around the UK will be required on a frequent basis. This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.

Responsibilities

  • Management of a portfolio of suppliers including supplier oversight and surveillance.
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) review and acceptance.
  • Supplier development and mentoring.
  • Earlier Quality Involvement (EQI) and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) implementation.
  • Continuous improvement.
  • Creating and presenting metrics and performance data.
  • Product verification and in-process quality activities.

Qualifications

  • Background in quality/inspection; ability to understand and interpret 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings, production paperwork and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience in inspection of composite, machined and fabricated parts and assemblies; knowledge of installation of electrical/electronic line replaceable units (LRU); experience on wire looms and fuel systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in review of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to AS9102; ability to articulate non-conformities to document owners and progress to compliant resolution.
  • Knowledge or experience with FAA Type Certificate process; training provided for conformity inspections and test set-up as part of FAA type approval process.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills to input data into various on- and off-line systems.
