The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Structural Analysis to join the team in the Boeing Aerospace Innovation Center in Prestwick Scotland. The team is a vital part of Boeing Global Technology, Europe.

About The Role

The team is actively developing technologies that will enable zero carbon emission flight. As our research in this field expands, we are growing the Prestwick team based at our state-of-the-art research and technology development facility, the Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC). The AIC showcases Boeing’s distinctive capabilities as a global center for design and digital manufacturing of current and future aircraft. Partnering with Universities, industry leaders, and the UK’s CATAPULT network, the AIC is a focal point to collaborate, innovate, train and develop skills for today and tomorrow. Boeing is developing structures and systems technologies to enable our industries transition to net zero emissions.

This exciting opportunity requires candidates to work in an agile, diverse and fast paced environment developing cutting edge technologies for aerostructures and future fuels integration. The successful candidate will deliver expert structural analysis leadership and integrate across our design, R&D, systems, and test teams in a rapid design, build and test environment. R&D areas of focus include metallics, composites, future fuels storage and integration, digital factory & harnessing new developments in IT.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the design.
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Lead development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Support in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Works under minimal direction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • Nine or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
