Join a high-performing team shaping the future of aircraft modifications across Europe. Reporting to the Director Engineering, Commercial Modifications Europe, the Senior Manager, Payloads leads the technical development and delivery of engineering data that drives aircraft-level STCs, minor changes, and repairs under our EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval. This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic direction, technical decision-making, and mentoring of talented engineering teams.

You will have direct influence on aircraft certification outcomes, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (sales, customers, airworthiness, global engineering), and help evolve our design organization processes to meet ambitious business and regulatory goals.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead and own the day-to-day delivery of departmental engineering activities: project planning, resource allocation, budgeting and schedule adherence
  • Provide technical leadership for development of engineering data required for STCs, minor changes and repairs under EASA Part 21 Subpart J
  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Marketing and Customers to communicate capabilities, manage expectations and align technical solutions with commercial objectives
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of documents and data for Agency approval
  • Define and provide guidance on engineering deliverables: drawings, bulletins, supplements and supporting technical documentation
  • Collaborate with the Head of Design Organisation and Head of Office of Airworthiness to maintain and improve DOA procedures, ensuring continued regulatory compliance and meeting business quality/performance metrics
  • Coach, mentor and review performance of engineering teams and first-line managers; build capability and succession within the team
  • Provide regular status and performance feedback to the Head of Engineering — EASA Modifications
  • Drive continuous improvement in working practices, certification techniques and engineering processes in alignment with business strategy
Basic Qualification:
  • Bachelor´s degree in aeronautical or engineering field or higher
  • Proven track record in aircraft modification engineering
  • Good working knowledge of EASA Part 21 and the requirements for large aircraft
  • Prior experience in managing engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in a design & certification-related engineering role
  • Current or previous experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) is desirable
  • Knowledge of FAA, GCAA and other airworthiness authority regulations is an advantage
  • Familiarity with Airbus and Boeing wide-body/narrow-body types is essential
  • Strong stakeholder management: ability to interact effectively with management at all levels, internally and externally
  • Proven ownership mentality and willingness to tackle business challenges
  • Experience driving change to improve working practices and business outcomes
  • Willingness and ability to mentor and develop engineering staff and first-line managers
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Cultural adaptability and comfort operating in international teams
