The Boeing Global Technology team based at the Boeing Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) in Prestwick, Scotland, are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team for a three-month summer internship in 2027. Our team of around 60 people at the AIC work on innovative, cutting-edge technology development, from robotics and automation, to composite fabrication, and digital engineering. Our team of multi-skilled engineers work together in our 100,000ft2 state of the art research facility at Prestwick International Airport in the West coast of Scotland, to develop manufacturing technologies that will help to build the next generation of aircraft.

As a Research and Technology (R&T) intern you will be given a real-life industrial challenge to solve over the course of a three-month placement. Working on your own, or as part of a small team, you will be given the tools and support from a highly skilled R&T team to develop a solution that is both innovative and cost effective. The project will be split between the office and the workshop as you plan, develop, and deliver a working solution.

Key tasks include:

  • Understanding and defining requirements
  • Budget and schedule planning
  • Landscaping and down selecting solutions
  • Design, develop, and validate solutions through small scale prototypes and test
  • Building relationships with stakeholders and team members
  • Reporting progress to key stakeholders and senior management

Skills:

  • Confident and clear communicator
  • Proficient user of MS Office tools
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Able to manage your own time and workload
  • Keen interest in aerospace manufacturing processes and digital technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Right to work in UK - We do not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Candidates should be studying towards a BEng/MEng in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Work Authorization:

  • This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work immediately in the United Kingdom.
