BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including E‑7 AEW&C, P‑8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

This position is for a Product Review Engineer (Avionic/ Electrical Systems) reporting to the BDUK Fixed Wing Engineering Support Manager. The role will be supporting the sustainment program for the UK E‑7 Wedgetail whilst in service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Analyse, conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoot to understand root cause.
  • Provide assistance and engineering support to identify solutions.
  • Provide written dispositions for design non‑conformances and damage sustained during operations.
  • Support activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
  • Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and implement product/process improvements.
  • Participate in Material Review Boards and support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) as well as providing technical input to design and in‑service reviews.
  • Represent the engineering community in the post‑production environment.
  • Ensure supplier and build partner comply with Boeing standards & processes.
  • Participate in, and support on‑site disabled product repair teams and accident investigations.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Develop solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives, processes and standards.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in the disciplines of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience in aerospace design or manufacturing.
  • Ability to use 3D CAD packages, such as CATIA V5.
  • Knowledge of aircraft Avionic/ Electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of approved repair and test techniques for Avionic/ Electrical components.
  • Extensive and specialised ability to analyse and interpret product data (e.g. Engineering drawings, Part Lists, Supplier data, Wiring Diagrams and Schematics).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • An E7 Material Review Board Ticket/Boeing Universal Product Review type‑qualification would be preferred for this role. Training can be provided for a suitable candidate to achieve an E‑7 specific ticket.
  • A significant amount of demonstrated E‑7 Wedgetail or Fixed Wing (e.g. 737, P‑8) experience and knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, practices, engineering drawings, standards and specifications to support the sustainment of the UK E‑7.
  • Knowledge of UK MOD aircraft maintenance processes, policies, organisations, capabilities, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaboratively effectively with team members across the globe, other employees and external customers to deliver projects and resolve problems.
  • Strong judgement and calm decision‑making under pressure.
  • Previous experience with UK MOD Resolve and GOLDesp is desirable.
  • An Engineering degree with CEng or IEng registration is desired, or a significant amount of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of depth and fleet maintenance.

This position will be an onsite role. This may be adjusted as required to meet programme and business demands. This position is contingent on contract award.
