Job Description

Job description: Boeing’s continued success and growth is built on the philosophy of Continuous Improvement. This exciting role will support our Vertical Lift Business Chinook and Apache Programmes operating initially from Middle Wallop requiring regular travel to other locations that include Wattisham, Suffolk, Gosport, Hampshire and RAF Odiham, Hampshire. The role will be hands on combining facilitation, coaching, training, project management, and project delivery. Joining a successful Business Improvement Team this high-profile position will support a range of Improvement / Change Initiatives including working and collaborating with customers and suppliers.

As a Business Improvement Specialist in Lean / Process Improvement methodologies you will coordinate a range of initiatives and projects crossing into manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and other business functions to deliver benefits in safety, cost, quality and time. The successful candidate would need to have the ability to positively engage with front line workers and senior management. Facilitating workshops, conducting independent investigations, and coordination of productivity / process improvements will be a core responsibility. As will coaching, training and mentoring employees to support the development of high-performance work teams.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on workshop / continuous improvement event facilitation
  • Hands-on project support, reporting, recording and presenting updates and outcomes of improvement initiatives and related activities
  • Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify and contribute to the delivery improvements as per business priorities
  • Providing expert knowledge in Lean / Continuous Improvement Methodologies
  • Utilising the Company Productivity and Quality Improvement Systems which will include training and coaching others in those systems
  • Training, Coaching and Mentoring employees in accordance with company standards to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement competencies
  • Assisting employee teams to develop metrics in support of process improvements
  • Contribute directly to Productivity and Quality improvements

Basic Skills / Education / Experience

  • Excellent Stakeholder Management Skills with the ability to engage and inspire cross functional teams at all levels
  • Project Management, Financial and Commercial awareness with the ability to inform Business Cases to support Improvement Initiatives
  • Coaching & Mentoring skills to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement Competencies
  • Confident facilitator with ability to work and influence in a matrix structure
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating a variety of improvement activities ranging from 1-day events to 5-day events
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Can demonstrate application of a variety of continuous improvement methods and tools
  • Produce meaningful information through analyzing data into recommendations for improvement
  • The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance

Preferred Skills / Education / Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in Aviation MRO, Manufacturing and Defense Services or equivalent relevant experience. Currently or previously held a Continuous Improvement/Business Improvement role and can demonstrate significant experience in facilitation, project management and application of Lean / Continuous Improvement systems and tools.
  • Experience demonstrating a track record of tangible improvements and collaboration with teammates and stakeholders to influence productivity and quality improvements.
  • Appropriate education in topics such as Project Management, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, NVQ/ Apprenticeships, Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent.
