Introduction: Boeing Global Technical Operations (GTO) are growing capability in the UK to support our US Defence customer based at RAF Lakenheath.

The primary work statement is to deliver a modification program across a fleet of USAF weapon systems based at RAF Lakenheath.

Role: This exciting role will provide the opportunity to be part of a highly motivated and evolving team of like minded professionals within the Field Operations Team delivering modification services to our Defence customers at their sites across the world.

  • Reporting to the on-site Maintenance and Modification Manager and supervised by the Lead Technician the role will form part of a small team of Technicians across multiple disciplines executing a modification work statement in accordance with technical work instructions and safety quality and schedule requirements.
  • Daily production to support delivery of the on-wing modification program across a range of trades (Structures Mechanical and Electrical/avionic).

Tasks include component removal repair and installation in accordance with approved technical data.

  • Ensuring that work is completed to the required standards and schedule.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of technical records to reflect work done.
  • Exercising personal responsibility and living the Boeing values and initiatives on safety quality and integrity.
  • Ensuring process compliance with regard to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention and tool control/accountability.
  • Mandatory reporting of incidents.
  • Conducting other duties and tasks that may be assigned by Lead Technician and/or managers from time to time that may include assisting USAF with aircraft ground movements safety tasks induction and post input functions where required.
  • Liaising with USAF Boeing Program Management and other functions to resolve logistical technical and operational challenges.
  • Working within the appropriate controls to protect secure data and intellectual property.
  • This role requires proven technical skills and knowledge of maintenance practices within the Defence maintenance environment.
  • The role will involve working alongside other Boeing and USAF Technicians across a range of trades so well-developed teamwork and interpersonal skills are required.

Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK.

Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom.

Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance (SC) for which UK residency is required. All information will be checked and verified.

  • Have completed a recognized apprenticeship or formal training program in aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience in working within an aircraft maintenance or modifications environment.
  • Proven knowledge of basic Microsoft office based applications and the ability to learn in house systems.
  • Ability to travel to domestic or international sites sometimes at short notice.
  • Electrical and avionic handskills - MOD installation experience.
