b Overview /b p As the BDUK Design Lead you will be the technical and functional lead for the Design and Support Engineering team, guiding design across the product lifecycle for internal and external customers. You will own design decisions, drive engineering excellence, and coordinate across engineering, maintenance, supply chain, quality, and operations. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage stakeholders, and shape design strategy and governance. This role offers high-impact work on defence platforms and opportunities to influence standards and processes. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li flexible working /li li study assistance /li li pension plan with up to 10% employer contribution /li li BUPA medical plan /li li parliamentary leave options (Annual leave 23 days + holidays) /li li life insurance 6x annual salary /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary design team, setting objectives and mentoring engineers /li li Own relationships with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers and regulatory bodies /li li Make decisive design decisions, document rationale and assume responsibility for outcomes /li li Establish robust design standards, verification/validation strategies and continuous improvement /li li Oversee supplier development, design optimisation, test planning and ramp-up /li li Present design status, risks, and decisions to programme leadership and customers /li li Lead proposal and bid support, defining scope and preparing SOWs and BOEs /li li Foster inclusive collaboration and resolve conflicts across teams and suppliers /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance /li li Bachelor of Science in Engineering /li li Experience in tooling design, manufacturing, and materials knowledge /li li Supplier management including SOW/BOE preparation and oversight /li li Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and stakeholder management /li li 5+ years in design and repair/maintenance engineering environment /li li Experience with CAD/PLM tools (Catia/NX, Enovia, TeamCenter) desirable /li li Familiarity with MRO operations and regulatory processes /li li Knowledge of international standards (ISO, SAE/AS, EASA/ICAO) /li li Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills /li li Collaborative, respectful leadership style with focus on psychological safety /li /ul ul li collaborative /li li stakeholder management /li li decision-making /li li 3D CAD design /li li PLM tools (Catia, NX, Enovia, TeamCenter) /li li design verification/validation /li /ul
