An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as a B1 Mechanic for the C-17 aircraft at RAF Brize Norton. The Boeing Team at Brize Norton plays a vital role in supporting the Royal Air Force, with a dedicated team of over 90 employees providing real-time, time-critical assistance to the C-17 operational team.

Role Description:

As a B1 Mechanic, you will be part of the Boeing MRP 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), responsible for performing maintenance on the UK C-17 fleet. You will ensure compliance with established processes, accurate work recording, and adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform B1 category aircraft maintenance activities as directed by Certifying Staff/Support Staff in accordance with Technical Documentation and company standards, including inspection, repair, troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly, and modification of the C-17 aircraft.

  • Ensure all documentation is completed following company procedures, regulatory standards, and B1 principles.

  • Comply with Company Environmental / Health / Safety policies and procedures.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and 5-S activities. Perform all work in a safe and timely manner.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 or above in Aircraft Maintenance, have completed an approved Apprenticeship Scheme, or possess sufficient equivalent practical experience in aircraft maintenance.

  • Previous experience in aircraft maintenance is essential.

  • Have a basic knowledge of Part-145 regulations.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms regarding individual task status.

  • Strong attention to detail and proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong practical skills, confidence in using hand tools, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

  • Willingness and physical ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

  • Additional Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid UK Driving License and be capable of holding an airside driving permit (Will verify airside driving permit requirements).

  • Prior experience with C-17 aircraft is beneficial but not essential.

  • Experience working in an AMO or civilian MRO environment is advantageous.

  • Shift Work: This role requires shift work on a weekly rotating basis. Week 1 is Monday to Friday from 07:45 to 16:30; Week 2 is Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 01:45. A Shift Allowance is provided to compensate for these hours.
