An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as a B1 Certifying Engineer (equivalent) for the C-17 aircraft at RAF Brize Norton. The Boeing Team at Brize Norton plays a vital role in supporting the Royal Air Force, with a dedicated team of over 100 employees providing real-time, time-critical assistance to the C-17 operational team.
Role Description:
As a B1 Certifying Engineer, you will be part of the Boeing MRP 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), responsible for performing maintenance on the UK C-17 fleet. You will ensure compliance with established processes, accurate work recording, and adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform and certify B1 category aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with Technical Documentation and company standards, including inspection, repair, troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly, and modification of the C-17 aircraft.
Lead and supervise maintenance activities, setting clear targets and inspiring the team to achieve them.
Motivate a team to reach its full potential and ensure compliance with policies and procedures of Boeing, including mentoring and supervision of technicians and apprentices.
Oversee the successful completion of all maintenance tasks through effective leadership and organisation of resources.
Ensure all documentation is completed following company procedures, regulatory standards, and B1 principles.
Maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
Obtain all company approvals including Engine Ground Run and Borescope activities.
Required Qualifications:
EASA/UK B1 License, either restricted or unrestricted, or the ability to hold a company authorisation at the same grade (minimum MOD Phase 2 technical training in line with MAA RA4808(1) regulations), NVQ Level 3 or above in Aircraft Maintenance, completed an Apprenticeship or have sufficient equivalent practical experience in aircraft maintenance.
Proven recent experience certifying aircraft, with at least 6 months of experience within the last 2 years preferable.
Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
Experience working with limited supervision and good organisational skills.
Attention to detail and proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Qualifications:
Hold a UK Driving License and be capable of holding an airside driving permit (Vill verify airside driving permit requirements) .
Prior experience with C-17 aircraft is beneficial but not essential.
Experience working in an AMO or civilian MRO environment is advantageous.

Shift Work: This role requires shift work on a weekly rotating basis. Week 1 is Monday to Friday from 07:45 to 16:30; Week 2 is Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 01:45. A Shift Allowance is provided to compensate for these hours. As our operation evolves, we’re exploring ways to enhance flexibility and support work-life balance through potential future adjustments to shift patterns.
