Overview
Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) System Safety and Environmental Engineering Team is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support sustainment programmes for UK defence, applying rigorous safety engineering tasks to Boeing products and services critical to national security. The role provides an excellent opportunity for early‑career or established engineers to develop a safety engineering career pathway.
Responsibilities
- Utilise industry‑leading tools and techniques for system safety and hazard analysis to define safety requirements that meet demanding regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders to manage safety throughout the product and service lifecycle.
- Assist with the development of safety arguments and safety cases for assurance and certification activities using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).
Qualifications
- Background in a safety‑critical and regulated environment (e.g., aerospace, defence, rail, automotive).
- Familiarity with common safety standards such as Def Stan 00-056 and MIL-STD-882E.
- Experience applying safety analysis methods such as Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Bowtie analysis.
- Ability to plan and execute tasks to meet timescales and costs.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and customer relationships.
- Proficiency in general office IT tools (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Strong technical communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or significant professional experience.
- UK National status is required, and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
