We are looking for a Part 21J Cabin Interiors, Design & Certification Engineer who is able to excel in driving safety and technical excellence, innovation and best practices within a matrix organisation structure. Reporting to the Aircraft Interior Modifications Manager, the successful candidate will be an integral part of supporting all BGS EASA Modification activities to develop, certify and integrate new interior design solutions such as interior cabin changes, Cargo Handling, Water & Waste Systems and Exterior Liveries.
The candidate will be working directly with airline and leasing customers while collaborating with the BGS global engineering services team across multiple time zones using a variety of 3-D and 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or other design methods, under the guidance of our EASA Design Organisation Handbook (DOH) across all Boeing aircraft models, including programs such as 747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737MAX.
Key Responsibilities- Design Engineering: Support the development of innovative aerospace designs and modifications. Participate in the creation of detailed design documentation, including CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications. Assist in the development and execution of test plans and procedures.
- Certification Engineering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with EASA/FAA regulations and Part 21J DOA requirements. Prepare and review certification documents, including compliance reports, safety assessments, and risk analyses. Participate in certification projects, supporting the approval of new designs and modifications. Liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to address certification issues and obtain necessary approvals.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to production, testing, and maintenance teams. Assist in troubleshooting design and certification issues, proposing and implementing solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and certification processes. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, applicable experience also considered.
- Strong understanding of aerospace design principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA and 3DExperience) and engineering analysis tools.
- Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and certification processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
- Previous project experience in aerospace design and certification is a plus.
