Today our MSLs play a crucial role in engaging our UK clinical community in understanding evidence gaps, unmet needs and communicating innovative breakthroughs which have the potential to transform the lives of people today and in generations to come. In respect of cardio-renal disease we have an ambitious and wide ranging clinical trial program to address unmet need in this increasingly burdensome and multimorbid disease landscape. At the same time, our cross-functional execution brings together a wide range of tactics to support the transformation of kidney care in the UK, improving readiness for new innovations in clinical care.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Identify, profile, and strategically engage relevant external stakeholders within the territory.
  • Build long-term, trusted partnerships through peer-to-peer exchange of unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge, enhancing disease awareness.
  • Provide medical and scientific information on Boehringer clinical trials and medicines in response to unsolicited requests, on both a single and ongoing basis, including delivering presentations using approved materials.
  • Communicate scientific data and asset value propositions effectively through omnichannel engagement, tailored to individual stakeholder preferences and needs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the stakeholder network, healthcare landscape, and patient care pathways—working cross-functionally to create and implement a territory-specific stakeholder engagement strategy aligned with business priorities and healthcare system needs.
  • Identify gaps and bottlenecks in patient journeys and propose opportunities for support or collaborative partnerships to improve referral pathways, patient care, and/or data generation.
  • Proactively gather high-value medical insights related to the therapeutic area, disease management, healthcare landscape, patient journey, clinical data, and educational needs.
  • Share insights with relevant internal teams to support informed decision making, strategy development, and identification of collaboration opportunities.
  • Develop and execute, or support the execution of, actions informed by insights at both territory and cross-functional levels.
  • Contribute to internal strategic discussions and therapeutic area objectives by sharing key insights in relevant forums.
  • Lead and/or support medical activities and projects, including publications, medical education initiatives, preceptorships, advisory boards, round table discussions, congresses, and Early Career Researcher (ECR) programs.
  • Support internal initiatives such as speaker briefings and internal training programs, collaborating closely with internal colleagues and external experts.
  • Provide actionable intelligence to support investigator and site identification, site initiation, and recruitment planning for Boehringer sponsored studies, in collaboration with Clinical Development and Operations.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Healthcare Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), and Healthcare Affairs teams to support scientific discussions around clinical data and asset value proposition.

Requirements

  • High level of self-motivation and learning agility, with the ability to rapidly build expertise in new therapy areas and maintain medical leadership within CRM.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to build and sustain trusted partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly and credibly.
  • Strong prioritisation and resource management capabilities.
  • Proactive attitude, growth mindset, agility, emotional intelligence, resilience, accountability, and leadership presence.
  • Strategic mindset with solid business acumen.
  • Ability to meet and deliver against defined key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience engaging with external medical experts and cross-functional internal teams (preferred).
  • Knowledge of local healthcare systems, patient pathways, and clinical practice (preferred).
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry and/or a relevant scientific or clinical environment (preferred).
