Medical Communications Specialist – 12 months contract
Basic Premise of the Role
To provide medical information and scientific content management services for Boehringer products and therapy areas.
To help deliver innovative solutions for omnichannel medical customer and patient engagement , aligning with current and future scientific communication and technology trends and customer insights.
To help optimise medical information systems, processes and interfaces.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for providing high quality, up-to-date, responses to individual medical information enquiries for UK, Ireland, Malta and Gibraltar, within target timelines and in accordance with Boehringer processes, the ABPI/IPHA/PRIMA codes of practice and other relevant regulations.
- Use FAQ, standard response documents, reference material and/or literature database searches and information from other internal stakeholders, to compile responses in line with department guidance documents.
- Lead on medical information projects and activities for assigned therapy areas and products, in collaboration with other medical affairs team members.
- Responsible for accurately recording and reporting adverse events (AEs) and technical product complaints (TPCs) in accordance with regulations and company procedures, within target timelines.
Medical content management:
- Responsible for planning, developing, reviewing and maintaining, up-to-date, accurate balanced and end-user focused scientific standard response documents and FAQs for assigned products within the enquiry management system..
- Proactively support medical therapy area teams by tracking and coordinating delivery of educational and scientific content for use across multiple medical channels and platforms, including website, MSL interactions and email.. Liaise with content author, global service teams, Customer Experience colleagues and external agencies, as required.
- Proactively maintain knowledge of available channels, platforms, channel preferences and digital best-practice for Medical Affairs, to support optimised omnichannel medical content provision.
Additional product and pipeline support:
- Responsible for providing medical information reports and other relevant metrics and insights to assigned therapy area or pipeline teams to inform the clinical development, medical and commercial strategy.
- Responsible for proactively liaising with product launch teams to ensure medical information notification timelines and other requirements are factored into product launch plans, and that required medical information content is in place ready for launch.
- Liaise with Medical Information Process Owner to send product update notifications and to update prescribing systems and resources for assigned products, in line with department processes.
- Deliver medical information product training to new starters..
Internal processes, systems and interface support:
- Take accountability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal processes, systems and technologies relevant to medical information, insights, scientific content management, digital engagement and help drive and implement changes to these as required.
- Maintain excellent professional relationships with internal stakeholder teams.
MCS Advanced level:
- Drive and lead projects to implement operational changes and introduction of new services and digital solutions. Develop associated internal processes in collaboration with Medical Information Process Owner.
- Proactively provide solutions to enhance efficiency, optimise engagement with medical content and support therapy area teams.
- Support system and process issues resolution, collaborate with stakeholders to align end-user focused solutions and implement resolution plans.
- Mentor and train new team members on allocated topics.
- Represent the UK Medical Information & Communications team on Medical, cross-functional and global projects and forums.
- Seek ideas from industry forums and other business resources to help drive the Medical Information & Communications strategy.
Requirements
- Ideally experience of working in medical information or similar function in the pharmaceutical industry, or a hospital pharmacy setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
