The Key Account Manager (KAM) – Oncology is a high-impact, field-based role responsible for shaping local access and driving adoption of innovative oncology therapies across key NHS accounts in the UK and Ireland. You will play a critical role in driving adoption of assigned Boehringer Ingelheim’s oncology portfolio by leading insight-driven account strategies, shaping local patient pathways, and partnering cross-functionally to improve patient outcomes across NHS systems.
Location: This is a field-based role covering one of 7 defined UK territories, e.g. Scotland, North East & Northern Ireland, North England, Cheshire, Mersey & West Mids, East Mids & East England, London North & Thames Valley, South East & SE London, or South West & Wales. While there is flexibility on exact location, candidates are ideally based within their assigned territory to enable regular travel and effective coverage of key accounts. The role involves frequent engagement with stakeholders across the region, so a willingness to travel and manage a geographically spread territory is important.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive and deliver on or above sales targets on territory
- Drive timely adoption of priority oncology brands and contribute to delivery of national and local business objectives
- Develop and execute insight-led, strategic account plans aligned to local NHS priorities and cancer pathway needs
- Identify and act on account-specific opportunities to optimise patient pathways, including testing, diagnosis, and treatment access
- Communicate compelling clinical and value propositions, translating complex data into meaningful, patient-relevant outcomes
- Build and maintain trusted partnerships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, MDT members, commissioners, and payer organisations
- Work in close collaboration with Medical, Market Access, Marketing, and cross-functional teams to deliver coordinated account strategies
- Monitor account performance, using data and insights to continuously refine strategy and improve impact
- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with ABPI/IPHA Code and company standard

Education & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent professional experience
- ABPI (UK) / IPHA qualification
Experience
- Proven success in Key Account Management or strategic roles within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a strong track record of influencing stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes
- Strong understanding of NHS structures, systems and decision-making processes
- Experience in oncology or specialist therapy areas strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver commercial results
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong strategic account management capability with ability to translate insights into clear, actionable account plans
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex clinical data into impactful value stories
- Strong analytical mindset with confidence in using data to inform decisions and prioritization
