This role goes beyond coordination; it requires a confident professional who can lead complex operational discussions, influence decision-making, and instil confidence in stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. You will be the go-to person on site for import, export and customs compliance topics supporting both daily operations and high stakes, time critical movements. Success in this role depends on your ability to navigate multiple teams, priorities and governance structures, building strong relationships whilst working both on site and virtually.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Regulatory Expertise: Act as the site SME for all import, export, and customs compliance matters, providing authoritative guidance during complex operational scenarios. Maintain in depth, up to date knowledge of UK and international trade regulations, including commodity classification, origin, valuation, licensing, sanctions, and embargoes. Confidently interpret and communicate regulatory changes, clearly articulating operational impact and risk to diverse stakeholders.
- Training & Awareness: Support the development and delivery of targeted import and export compliance training across the site, tailored to audience, role, and risk. This includes building awareness around trade controls, AEO requirements, escalation pathways, and individual accountability. Acting as a visible and trusted point of reference, the role will help embed a strong culture of compliance and informed decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, procurement and overseas teams to ensure import and export requirements are fully understood and consistently applied. The role requires the confidence to contribute meaningfully to multi-level stakeholder discussions, constructively challenge where needed, and navigate priorities across matrixed teams both in person and via Microsoft Teams.
- Process Management: Maintain and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and working instructions to reflect current legislation, business practice, and operational reality. Ensure documentation remains clear, practical, and fit for purpose, supporting both routine activity and complex, high-risk movements.
- Operational Coordination: Provide trade compliance support during complex and time-critical operational exercises, offering clear advice and sound judgement where ambiguity exists. Coordinate closely with internal teams to support compliant execution of imports and exports, ensuring trade requirements are considered early in planning and decision-making processes.
- Broker Coordination & Audits: Liaise with customs brokers and relevant third parties to support compliant clearance of goods and services. Conduct post-entry checks and audits of import and export activity, providing documented feedback, identifying gaps, and supporting corrective actions where required. Contribute to internal and external audit activity, including AEO-related reviews.
- Logistics Support: Support logistics activities associated with import and export movements, including vehicle bookings, packing oversight, and visual inspections prior to dispatch. This includes routine shipments as well as complex or regulated consignments such as biological or hazardous materials (e.g. UN2900), ensuring all movements are secure, compliant and appropriately documented.
