The ILD Medical Educator works collaboratively with NHS stakeholders to co-create and deliver high-quality structured medical education and training for multidisciplinary teams managing patients with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) across secondary care. The role focuses on improving understanding of key clinical elements in ILD management to enhance patient care. Medical Educators combine specialist practitioner skills with extensive therapy area knowledge to deliver credible, impactful education that strengthens Boehringer-Ingelheim’s reputation for supporting healthcare professionals. This is a 2-year contract covering North East England / East of England. Please note you must live in either Northeast England or in the East of England to be considered for the role.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify Customer Needs: Assess educational gaps within Rheumatology and related departments and tailor content accordingly.
- Deliver Exceptional Customer Experience: Create impactful educational programs that improve patient care through safe and effective clinical practice.
- Present clinical data accurately, fairly, and in a balanced manner to support knowledge translation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Key Account Specialists, Medical Science Liaisons, and other internal teams to develop and deploy educational initiatives.
- Measure Impact: Evaluate and adapt educational programs based on feedback and outcomes.
- Insight Generation: Share structured and unstructured insights on NHS trends, competitor activities, and medical issues. Provide interpretation of clinical trial data and emerging therapies upon request.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key thought leaders and educational influencers.
- Compliance: Operate within all relevant policies, laws, and ABPI/IPHA codes. Travel across UK & Ireland as required, with flexibility for virtual delivery.
REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified specialist nurse or UK registered pharmacist with significant NHS clinical experience (ideally in Rheumatology or ILD or related therapeutic area).
- ABPI (UK) / MRII (Ireland) qualification.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with experience in educating healthcare professionals.
- Ability to design and deliver learning interventions that drive changes in clinical practice.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- IT literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Clean driving license preferred.
- Desirable: Previous experience in pharmaceutical or medical education roles. Ability to map educational needs and adapt content accordingly.
