Job title: Studio Manager - Reformer Pilates and Strength Location: Orpington, BR6 0LF Salary: Β£38,000 commission Job type: Full-time, Permanent Start date: January 2027 (with paid pre-opening engagement from October 2026) Sector: Health and Fitness / Pilates / Studio Management About Us Bodysmiths is a new kind of wellness destination - a multidisciplinary health and performance hub opening on Orpington High Street in January 2027. Under one roof we bring together an osteopath-led clinical practice, a reformer Pilates and strength studio, and a health-focused cafe. Our studio runs small group reformer classes of six - deliberately sized to put quality of movement and client outcomes above volume. We are not a franchise or a high-turnover boutique brand. We are building something with clinical depth, genuine community, and the kind of environment that clients and instructors actually want to be part of. The Role This is a genuinely rare opportunity - a founding role in a clinical wellness business, combining expert teaching with real operational ownership. Roughly half your time you will be on the studio floor, delivering exceptional classes across reformer Pilates, mat Pilates, and strength. You will teach our flagship Forge class - a hybrid reformer and strength format - alongside one-to-one sessions and specialist group work. The other half of your time you will be running the studio. That means timetabling, client communications, bookings, equipment oversight, and owning the client journey from first enquiry through to long-term membership. You will also recruit and manage a small team of self-employed instructors, and you will play a central role in our pre-launch campaign. You will report directly to our Director and have genuine influence over how the studio takes shape from day one. Key Responsibilities Teaching and client delivery: Reformer Pilates and strength group classes (approx. 8-10 per week, max 6 clients) Our signature Forge class - hybrid reformer and strength format Mat Pilates group classes, mixed level One-to-one and specialist sessions (pre/post-natal, senior health, rehabilitation) Cover for self-employed instructors as needed Studio operations: Day-to-day studio management including opening and closing procedures Timetable and booking management Client communications across all channels Equipment maintenance and studio presentation Studio performance reporting Team manager: Recruit, onboard, and manage approximately two self-employed instructors Mentor and develop the instructor team over time What We Are Looking For Essential: Current reformer Pilates qualification with active group teaching experience Mat Pilates qualification Strength and conditioning qualification or equivalent background Proven studio or fitness facility management experience Highly organised, self-directed, and confident managing competing priorities Warm, professional approach with clients and team members alike Desirable: Experience recruiting or managing self-employed instructors Familiarity with studio booking software such as Mindbody or TeamUp Background working within or alongside a clinical or physiotherapy setting Experience with specialist populations including pre/post-natal or older adults The Package Β£38,000 base salary Commission structure on new memberships and one-to-one sessions directly attributed to you Performance bonus linked to studio utilisation and membership growth Salary review at 12 months Pre-opening paid engagement: ad-hoc paid hours from October 2026 for strategy sessions, hiring planning, and pre-launch preparation, at an agreed hourly rate A founding role with genuine room to grow as Bodysmiths scales How to Apply Send your CV and a covering note to We want to hear about your teaching background, your management experience, and what specifically draws you to Bodysmiths. Applications without a covering note will not be considered.41bf1e1f-b16b-4260-a40a-17c77a06fd15
