Position Summary:
The Sales Director, Europe will lead and grow sales across multiple European markets for the S3P business. This role is responsible for developing regional sales strategies, managing and mentoring a team of sales professionals, and driving profitable growth across key industry sectors. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring commercial acumen, technical understanding, and cross-cultural leadership.
Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute the European S3P sales strategy aligned with global commercial goals.
- Identify and prioritise markets, segments, and key accounts for growth.
- Lead, coach, and support a team of national/regional sales managers and key account managers.
- Establish clear performance metrics, KPIs, and accountability processes for the sales team.
Business Development & Key Account Management
- Maintain and grow relationships with key strategic customers for S3P across Europe.
- Support the sales team with high-value negotiations and technical proposal development.
- Identify new business opportunities in target sectors and geographies.
- Drive cross-border sales synergies and lead major account bids or RFQs.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to inform strategy.
- Provide input to product development and service innovation from customer feedback.
- Forecast revenue, develop annual sales budgets, and contribute to long-term commercial planning.
- Lead regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and development planning for the team.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Collaborate with operations, technical, marketing, and finance teams to ensure delivery and profitability.
- Promote consistent sales processes and CRM usage across the region.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Degree level education in engineering or similar subject relevant to Bodycote.
- Proven success in senior sales roles within industrial or technical sectors (metallurgy, or metal processing).
- Strong experience in application development business model (technical / missionary selling into diversified B2B end markets vs commodity selling or single end market).
- Used to managing commercial organisations with multiple commercial sub-roles (KAM, market segment business development, inside sales).
- Deep understanding of & application of commercial excellence tools (KAM, pricing, account / market segment plans, VOC / customer satisfaction).
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in B2B sales, with a strong track record of managing teams and driving growth across multiple European markets.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and key account relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and understanding of cost drivers.
- Fluency in multiple European languages (English essential; German, French or Italian a plus).
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and structured sales methodologies.
- An active listener who positively engages with the business and seeks feedback, input and support as required.
- Delivers through relationships and can effectively & positively influence people without direct authority.
