We are looking to recruit a Nitriding Technology Specialist to drive sustainable growth within Bodycote’s Nitriding Portfolio. The role will involve helping to shape strategy, identifying commercial opportunities, and providing expert technical support to local operations. Main responsibilities: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY Follow company health & safety procedures and disciplines Follow and Comply with all quality system requirements relevant to Job Description Follow and comply with company environmental procedures TECHNICAL Process Owner for Nitriding Operations Write & control the furnace recipes in line with customer product requirements Perform NPI / oversee Laboratory metallographic examination & associated testing outputs Developing / adapting nitriding process inline with metallurgical best practice, CI & Sustainability targets Provide Root Cause Analysis, Containment and Countermeasures on any quality Non Conformances related to process Monitor and review process stability and address variability Support Engineering with Equipment capability in line with OEM’s specification Develop fixturing strategies to maximise utilisation and cycle efficiency Design mechanical or paint “masking” solutions and create the necessary standard operating procedures Design and optimise furnace programs in line with cycle requirements Continuously review applicability of new technologies that could enhance efficient processing Liaise with external metallurgical expertise to facilitate knowledge transfer OPERATIONAL Work with Planning team to maximise efficiency and improve profitability through “coach loading” opportunities Establish and Promote Best Practice with Operations Team through high level of Standardisation of tooling, programs, loading and offloading and inspection procedures COMMERCIAL Engage with clients, understand their requirements, and provide tailored solutions Articulate the value proposition of plasma and gas nitriding to potential customers Identify new business opportunities or market segments where Nitriding processed could be applied Competitions Analysis Market Analysis Analyse customer feedback, market trends, and sales data to inform business strategies Qualifications, experience and skills: Educated to degree Level in Material Sciences or Metallurgy with specialisation in Nitriding and Nitrocarburising using Gas or Plasma methodologies (Essential) Industrial Experience in commercial and Aerospace Nitriding and Nitrocarburising with extensive knowledge of market applications and development of solutions for OEMs (Essential) Able to identify commercial opportunities to expand Nitriding portfolio (Optional) Project Management skills and stakeholder management essential Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all our functions to deliver customer expectations Excellent level of literacy and numeracy NADCAP HT, EN9100, TS16949, CQI9 awareness (Optional) Pyrometry process knowledge / awareness (Optional) Salary / package: Competitive salary Eligibility to annual bonus Eligibility to a private medical insurance which can be extended to dependants Car allowance Pension – match contribution from 4% – 10% Life Assurance – 2 x annual salary Employee assistance program including wellbeing app Free parking on all sites Free refreshments provided An entitlement to full pay whilst off sick for a limited number of days (in addition to your statutory sick pay entitlement) 25 days holiday plus national holidays How to apply: Send your CV with salary expectation using the contact options above.
