The predicted salary is between 28523 - 34861 £ per year.
You will work as part of the Security Team, providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for customers and readers while helping to keep people, buildings and collections safe. You will respond to emergency situations, maintain clear and accurate records, patrol public and reader areas, check access to restricted areas, conduct routine searches of bags and lockers, and ensure buildings and alarm systems are secure and functioning. You will also respond to enquiries by telephone and face to face and undertake appropriate support tasks in sensitive or restricted areas. This is a permanent, part-time post, working 32 hours per week. The role is worked on a rota, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. The postholder will usually work Tuesday to Friday, with one Saturday every three weeks. Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to safety-critical work, including responding to emergency situations.
You will be willing to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and will be able to work well and cooperatively as part of a team. You will have a professional, customer-focused approach and the ability to interact confidently and appropriately with people at all levels, using tact and diplomacy. You will be observant and able to complete repetitive tasks. You will also have a good standard of written and spoken English.
