You will coordinate the Bodleian Libraries' loans activity with a primary focus on the Shikshapatri project, supporting the outward and inward loans programme within the Public Engagement team. Working closely with colleagues across the Libraries, the University and external partners, you will manage loans documentation, coordinate transport, insurance and indemnity arrangements, liaise with borrowing venues, and help ensure the successful delivery of a high-profile international loans programme.
You will also provide flexible support across wider exhibitions and loans activity, contributing to policy development, record keeping, risk assessments and sector best practice while maintaining excellent standards of documentation and stakeholder communication. This is a fixed-term post for 6 months, working part time for 7.5 hours per week. The anticipated working pattern is approximately one day per week, primarily working remotely with occasional on-site attendance at the Weston Library for project activities, meetings or loan operations. Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to handling of high value collection items.
You will have proven experience of collections registration or loans coordination within a library, archive, museum or gallery environment, together with a strong understanding of loans management, handling, transport and conservation requirements. You will be highly organised, able to manage complex documentation accurately, and confident working independently in a remote environment as well as collaboratively within a small team. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement when balancing competing priorities, and strong IT skills. Experience of photography, supervising staff or knowledge of a second language would be advantageous.
