Overview
As a Textile Designer, you’ll take full ownership of your categories, leading the design process from initial concept through to production and fit. You’ll play a key role in supporting senior designers, bringing the wider team together, and mentoring Design Admin Assistants and Junior Designers.
You’ll collaborate closely with product teams to develop creative yet commercially successful ranges, with a strong understanding of trends, trading performance, fabric options, and margin targets, ensuring balanced and well-rounded collections.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract
Location: 3 days per week at our North Acton office.
What You Will Do
- Design unique, innovative ranges that align with the seasonal strategy and resonate with the Boden customer.
- Gather inspiration from a wide range of sources to create original, distinctive designs
- Apply a strong eye for colour, print, and overall design across collections
- Present design work and ranges regularly to senior partners
- Edit ideas with precision, solve problems independently, and critically evaluate your work
- Create detailed technical CAD drawings and development/artwork packs
- Take responsibility for key deadlines, maintaining the critical path and ensuring timely delivery across your team
- Participate in product approvals from early development through to final production
- Ensure all design work reflects Boden’s brand values and keeps the customer front of mind
- Confidently manage PLM systems, including uploading tech packs, BOMs, and colour data
- Lead fit sessions and make clear, informed decisions during the process
- Stay up to date with the market through regular competitor reviews and inspirational shopping trips
What We Are Looking For
- Proven expertise in textile design at Designer level, with a track record of delivering commercially successful, production-ready print collections.
- An exceptional eye for colour, print, and storytelling, with the ability to create designs that feel distinctly “Boden” while standing out in the market.
- Advanced CAD skills, with hands-on professional experience in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to produce polished artwork and detailed technical packs.
- A deep understanding of the fashion and retail landscape, with strong awareness of competitor brands and the ability to design with both creativity and commerciality in mind.
- A degree in Fashion Design, Print, Illustration or Textiles (BA Hons or equivalent)
- Experience working with PLM systems (preferred but not essential)
